Either: Daily Dosing: take 1 pill everyday (if at high risk of HIV)
or
On-Demand Dosing: take 2 pills 2-24hr before sex then take 1 pill 24 hrs after sex and take 1 more pill 48hrs after (take 1 daily until last sex episode then take 2 pills)
Note: For anal sex HIV protection in the rectal tissue is achieved 2-24hrs after taking first pill.
For vaginal sex, HIV protection achieved 7 days after taking first pill.
If daily dosing, PrEP unlikely to be effective if fewer than 4 pills are taken per week
